On This Day - 29th July

On this day in 1980, promoter Trevor Redmond and BriSCA F2 star 667 Bill Batten had a blazing row at St Austell.  Bill had just won the sixteenth of the last 20 races he had been in at the Cornish Stadium, and Trevor blamed him for falling attendances (cars and spectators).  Their heated argument was overheard by local journalist Gil Griffin, who reported it in the press, and then found himself facing Trevor’s wrath.
